HAPPENIN'S REPORT

Hello,

 

Although it has been awhile since I have written a Happenin' Report, the fur season is upon us and the Big Game season is ending. I felt it was time to get the old pen out and let all know what I've been doing besides predator control.

First- We have had a 'Rifle/Shotgun Sock' designed, which I field tested for most of the spring and summer. The Sock was designed specifically for the use on your ATV or any hunting rig, keeping the dust out of your scope and rifle, also being semi water proof it will deflect the snow and light moisture. Located on the outside of the Sock are tie down strings to secure the rifle to your ATV, so if you need the rifle quick-you only have to grab the stock and pull.

Second- We discovered one of the most versatile 'Call Pouch' being made you have ever seen. The Pouch will carry the three calls I use at all times, this Pouch will fit in your shirt pocket for easy access. The Call Pouch and two calls will be our show special.

Third- Over a year ago I was introduced to a predator call, that is the most unique call I have ever seen or used. It requires little practice and very little breath to operate. The call does not sound like any call I have used or heard, and yet a coyote will come on a trot whether you blow softly or harshly. I have used the call in Montana and Idaho with the same results, it works, using a combination of soft and harsh blows. This spring I plan to try the call in Oklahoma and Texas.

Fourth- My version of a 'Furbearer Carrying Strap' which I have used to carry coyotes, fox, bobcats, beaver and badgers- a person can easily carry two beaver at one time and still be able to use your hands when crossing beaver dams or mud bogs.

We hope our Youth Coyote Calling Contests are well attended, there is not an entry fee. There are two age divisions, 12 and under and 13 to 16 years old, each division has the top three places receiving a certificate and cash prizes. Come on kids and join in, its just for fun.
